Logistics

 Logistics

Complex process of organising resources for production- ensuring all personnel, props, equipment and locations are in the right pace at the right time, especially on big productions like a major film, which will also involve doing a recce. Poor planning leads to high costs.

Logistics include

  • Personnel- transportation and times they need to be fed
  • Props
  • Production equipment
  • Locations
  • Transportation
  • Care on location
The production company must not only get the resources, but they need them for the right time and for the best value possible.

Personnel
  • Audition the actors
  • Do they have the skills their character is expected to have? If not you may have to train them to do so.
Transportation
  • There are 11 different filming locations in the avengers endgame.
  • Logistically this means they must have organised transportation for the personnel and equipment to go from and to all these different locations, as well as some props and production equipment that they cannot access in different locations.
  • It is also filmed in 5 different countries so you need to consider time zones and flights to these countries.
Locations
  • Logistics of different time zones, different times in different places around the world and so you may have to make different schedules of the same things representing these different time zones
Care on location
  • This could include chaperoning the children actors
  • Children can only work a certain amount of hours
  • Taking care of all the actors wellbeing intense scenes
  • Blocking of streets
Feeding
  • There are sometimes thousands of people working on set and so you need to organise a schedule of what
  • time the food will start to be cooked and when the personnel will receive their food.
  • Time of day and how this will effect how you can take a break and eat.
Props
  • Availability of the props
  • You need to make sure the props are safe to use
  • Have a contingency, a back up plan, in case the prop is faulty

Sitemaps, wireframes and visualisation diagrams

A shot by shot list is important alongside these documents- storyboard and script A sitemap A sitemap is a list of pages of a website, those used during the planning of a website by its designers.  Three main types- Those used planning a website Available for viewing online by those visiting a website  A structured coded list designed for search engineers  A wireframe  A visual representation of the framework of a website  Aims To help arrange the site for a specific purpose (informed by the business aims or a creative idea) Shows the websites layout Shows how different elements of the site interact with each other Why use wireframes Helps programmers and designers think think and communicate the structure of software or website they are building. The same screen can be built in different ways, but only some communicate the message with easy to use software or website.
